Veterinary services at livestock owners’ doorsteps soon
LEH, March 3: The Department of Animal Husbandry, Leh convened a meeting regarding ‘Outreach of Veterinary Doctors at Livestock Breeder’s Doorstep’ on March 2 at LDO Office Chushot.
Livestock Development Officer, Leh, Dr. Shakil Ahmad informed that soon the veterinary services will start at the village level. He seeks cooperation from public representatives to achieve the purpose of the initiative. Further, he informed that the Doctor will do physical treatment of livestock including pregnancy diagnoses (PD)/, Repeat breed’ cases, KCC, and synchronization among others.
Sharing the data regarding Artificial Insemination, he added the department of Animal Husbandry Leh has also implemented the National Artificial Insemination Program (NAIP) program in the district. Further, he informed that the National Artificial Insemination Program (NAIP) service is available at all 26 centers from Shara to Basgo.
It was informed that the sex-sorted semen (SSS) insemination technology achieves almost 90% female calves and also informed that this technology has been introduced in Ladakh.
Councillors and Sarpanchs assured their support at the village level by disseminating the message so that maximum livestock breeders can participate.
The meeting was attended by Councillors and Sarpanch of concerned jurisdiction and officers of the LDO organisation.
