Vice- Chancellor, Jammu University releases IMFA’s Prospectus
Jammu, September 27: Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, released the prospectus for the Bachelor of Visual Arts 2023 of IMFA at his office chamber. He was accompanied by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Principal Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), Jammu, and Rakesh Sharma, H.O.D. Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu, in addition to teaching faculties.
Prof.Rai lauded the activities of IMFA in the field of visual art coordinated by the faculty members in the recent past, especially the latest and contemporary layout and design of the Fine Arts prospectus conceptualised by Rakesh Sharma, H.O.D. Fine Arts, IMFA, University of Jammu, and assisted by Vaneeka Gupta, a faculty member (Applied Art, IMFA).
On the occasion, students from the ‘Design Your Degree ‘programme at the University of Jammu were also asked to avail themselves of the benefits of exploring themselves from the multifarious staff of the Deptt. of Visual Arts. They had the occasion to have one-on-one interactions with the specialised faculty members, who are also towering artists in their respective fields and streams.
Aiming at the holistic development of the student as an individual artist, students were asked to hone their creative skills in their own stride, setting aside preconceived stereotypes and limiting the fixed yardsticks of previous pedagogy. The teaching system of New Education Policy 2020 indeed leaves no room for mediocrity and trains in the career building of students as trend setters, torch bearers, and pioneers, as stated by Prof.Umesh Rai.
“The prime yardstick of creativity leads to creating the maximum out of nothing, and a creative approach makes one self-dependent and enlightened. In addition, creativity ever overflows the surplus of the present scenario and copes with creative challenges; intuitive faith and saturation of all our senses with a tinge of sixth sense ultimately decode the unseen truth,” unfolded Rakesh Sharma, beside throwing light upon the technical intricacies of the subject. Mr. Sharma further added that the BVA course can be chosen by any candidate who has a creative instinct and wishes to build his or her career in the field of visual arts. A course in visual arts appeals to the aesthetic sense of students and makes their imaginative senses grow in the right perspective.
Prof. Shohab Malik pertinently mentioned to the students that a creative art workshop will be organised at IMFA in the month of October or the first week of November 2023.
Prominent faculty members of IMFA among those who were present were Rohit Verma, Amarjeet Singh,Vaneeka Gupta, Rachita Dutta, and Palak Gandotra.
