“Vijayawada Railway Station granted NSG-1 status” ; Divisional Railway Minister Narendra Anandrao Patil
Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 14 (ANI): Divisional Railway Minister Narendra Anandrao Patil announced on Friday that the Ministry of Railways awarded the Vijayawada Railway Station the prestigious Non-Suburban Group-1 status. (NSG1)
Speaking to the mediapersons on Saturday, Patil said that the NSG status is granted to stations on the criteria that the station has an annual revenue of more than Rs 500 crore or the number of passengers annually is more than 20 lakh.
“We are very happy and delighted to announce that the Ministry of Railways has been given the NSG-1 status to the Vijayawada Railway Station. The NSG-1 status is given to stations where the annual revenue is more than Rs 500 crore or the number of passengers or the passengers annually is more than 20 lakh,” Patil said.
Further, he added that the Vijaywada division in the latest review had successfully crossed the gross revenue and had achieved Rs 528 crore of revenue, further adding that the station had also joined the list of the top 28 elite stations of the Indian Railways.

He also added that the Vijayawada Railway station has been given the Platinum rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
“The Vijayawada Railway station has world class facilities and has also been given the Platinum rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). We are striving very hard to provide better facilities. New train coach restaurants and ‘Divyangan’ facilities have been introduced. The Vijayawada station is the hub of activities, with around 250 passenger trains and 80 good trains running across the station,” he added.
Additionally, the Vijayawada Railway station has also been awarded the best tourist-friendly station by the Andhra Pradesh state government.
The Divisional Railway Minister added, “The Andhra Pradesh State government has also awarded our station the award for the best tourist-friendly station. The junction-one of the busiest junctions and the geographical positioning of the station have helped it grow a lot. In the upcoming future, we have more plans to advance the facilities in the station and to make it a world-class stations
