Balwan Singh Ex- MLA, Tarlok Singh Bajwa, Ex MP, Indu Pawar ex MLA, Shashi Sharma, Karan Bhagat, Rajinder Singh, Bushan Dogra amidst raising slogans “ Property Tax Vapis Lo, Mehnghai Ko Kabu Karo Kabu Karo, Berozgari Dur Karo, besides Nafrat Chhodo-Bharat Jodo, the protestors carried play cards, nation flags and party flags they marched from Indiranagar to Simbal Mors along with hundreds of workers.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Vikar Rasool Wani lashed out at the BJP Govt. for crushing the poor and the common man under huge taxes leading to record price rise, property tax, large-scale unemployment and arbitrary downgrading of the historical state. All sections of the society are resenting against the dictatorial policies of the Modi Govt., be they common man, unemployed youth, students, traders, transporters, adhoc, contractual, daily wagers, need-based, pensioners, and others but the centre Govt. and the UT administration are insensitive and indifferent to the genuine demands of the different sections. He said Congress party shall aggressively continue to raise the issues of different sections of people.
He said that BJP government has been making fool to people from the very day of its rule in the name of development, jobs to youth, money transfer to individual account, low petrol and cylinder gas price. But it is very unfortunate that there is regular hikes in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG which add to the “sky-rocketing expenses” of households.
Shri Raman Bhalla (Workin President) lashed out at the BJP led Centre Govt. and the LG Administration for imposition of property tax and other sorts of taxes besides arbitrary and anti-people decisions from time to time. He said, the people of J&K are suffering on account of militancy, for more than three decades apart from political uncertainty for over nine years. The unprecedented price hike, the large-scale unemployment and abnormal security situation due to targeted killings of innocents especially minorities, has destabilized the economy of J&K. The Govt. is unable to hold elections to the state assembly and fails to restore statehood which is most popular demand of all in J&K but BJP Govt. at the Centre and UT Administration want to crush the people of J&K economically, by imposing various types of taxes.
Terming the tall promises of the BJP as hoax and big joke with the people, especially the poor, marginalized and the youth, Raman Bhalla said there has been very little on the ground. “It is not only the jobs; the BJP had shown day dreams about doubling the income of farmers and providing housing to all by 2022 but these turned out as Jumlas and nothing beyond that. If anything has happened, it to levy taxes even on the essentials like rice and curd, he said while slamming the BJP for befooling the poor housewives by creating hype over free LPG connections to those of them belonging to below poverty line, notwithstanding the fact they can’t afford to fill the cylinders which have crossed almost Rs 1150 per cylinder.
Shri Ravinder Sharma and Th. Balwan Singh strongly criticized the Modi Govt. for its anti-people policies especially with regard to farmers, Youths and the common man who are being fleeced for the huge taxes leading to unprecedented price hike and large-scale unemployment. Every section of society is suffering because of the mis-governance of the BJP Govt. and the attitude of the bureaucratic regime in J&K.
They said that Modi Govt. is looting the people in the name of taxes and uncontrolled price rise of all commodities including petrol, diesel, gas and said that the BJP is a pro-rich party least bothering for the sufferings of the poor and downtrodden. The Congress party is on the road for the common people and unemployed youth farmers and other suffering sections and would expose the BJP in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir, they added.
