Voting awareness campaign organised at GDC Pouni under SVEEP

REASI, SEPTEMBER 02: An awareness program for young voters was held today here on Government Degree College Pouni Campus Pouni as part of the “Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation” (SVEEP) initiative.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and professors alike, reflecting the commitment to fostering an informed and active electorate. The SVEEP team led by Nodal Officer Sachin Sharma provided comprehensive insights into the electoral process, encouraging all attendees to participate in the democratic process and cast their votes on 25 September 2024.

A series of activities, including speeches by students, a symposium, poster-making competitions, Signature Campaign and a large mass rally, were organized to further engage participants and spread awareness about the importance of voting. A special focus was placed on informing the Nodal Officers about the availability of home voting for senior citizens aged 85 and above, ensuring inclusivity in the voting process.

Additionally, Persons with Disabilities (PwD) were introduced to the Saksham-ECI app, which features a range of accessibility options to assist in voter registration, locating polling stations, and casting votes.

The program culminated with a pledge by the students and staff of GDC Pouni to actively promote voter participation within their communities, aiming for a higher voter turnout in the upcoming elections. This initiative highlights the importance of voter education and the role of youth and educators in fostering a vibrant and inclusive electoral process.
