Walkathon-cum-rally held at Kulwanta to promote voter awareness
RAMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 22: As part of the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation initiative, the Sub-Divisional Administration Ramnagar organized a walkathon-cum-rally on Saturday to motivate citizens, especially the youth, to actively participate in the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for October 1, 2024.
The event aimed to achieve a 100% voter turnout by raising awareness about electoral rights and responsibilities.
The programme, with a special focus on educating first-time voters, highlighted the importance of participating in the democratic process.
The rally was flagged off from Main Chowk, Kulwanta by Naib Tehsildar Prithavi Pal and passed through the main market before concluding at Government High School, Kulwanta.
The event featured cultural performances, skits, awareness speeches, a signature campaign and a voters’ pledge to promote inclusive and ethical voting practices.
Rakesh Kumar, Nodal Officer SVEEP for Assembly Constituency 62-Ramnagar, conveyed the message of District Election Officer Udhampur, Saloni Rai, urging all voters to participate in large numbers while being mindful of the environment by minimizing plastic use during the election campaigns. Kumar also conveyed the Returning Officer Ramnagar’s call to honor the administration’s outreach efforts by ensuring maximum voter participation on Election Day.
The rally saw the active participation of over 500 people, including students and local voters. Youth icon and Dogri artist Subash Brahamanu, alongside Daleep Singh, a fellow Dogri artist, engaged the audience through performances emphasizing the importance of voting.
In his motivational speech, Subash Brahamanu underscored the significance of each vote in shaping the nation’s future and urged all eligible citizens to cast their ballots. He also highlighted the critical role of the SVEEP programme in promoting ethical and informed voting practices.
