Walkathon organised in Kathua to foster anti-corruption campaign
KATHUA, September 08: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas flagged-off a Walkathon on Friday morning from Sports Stadium here to raise awareness among people about Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K Campaign, being observed from 04-10 September across UT of Jammu Kashmir.
The Walkathon was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Office Kathua from Sports Stadium to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park. Over 210 students from different educational institutions of the district and staff of DYS&SO, Kathua participated in the event.
The DC, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, briefly explained that the Walkathon event was part of over 1700 events planned by district administration Kathua to raise awareness among common masses about their active role in rooting out the menace of Corruption from the society. He said the idea behind roping in school students in an extensive anti-corruption advocacy drive was to inculcate the habit of zero-tolerance against unfair practices among the budding students so as to make them flag bearers of such important campaigns.
The walkathon started from Sports Stadium Kathua and reached Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and concluded back at Sports Stadium. The students were seen holding placards/banners and also raised slogans to create awareness among the people regarding the Anti-Corruption measures.
On the occasion, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kathua Sunil Kumar and other Officers/Officials sensitized participants about the importance of raising awareness regarding the Corruption in all forms viz Financial, personal and attitudinal.
Earlier, DC Kathua administered the Integrity Pledge amongst the participants.
