Wayanad landslides: JP Nadda condoles deaths, requests Kerala BJP workers to help in rescue efforts

New Delhi [India], July 30 (ANI): Union Minister JP Nadda on Tuesday expressed condolences for the lives lost in landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad and wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the mishap.

He mentioned that Kerala BJP President Surendran is at the incident site. Nadda added that he has requested all BJP workers in Kerala to help in rescue efforts as per the guidelines and support those in distress.

At least 54 people have died and 250 people have been rescued and shifted to temporary relief camps on Tuesday following a series of massive landslides that struck the hilly areas of Meppadi, Wayanad district, in the early hours of July 30.

“Deeply saddened by the devastating landslide in Wayanad, Kerala. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I am praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. May God grant strength to the bereaved families to endure this hour of grief,” Nadda said in a post on X.

“Kerala BJP President and Wayanad BJP candidate @surendranbjp is reaching the incident site and requested all BJP state unit karyakartas of @BJP4Keralam to assist in rescue efforts as per the guidelines and provide all necessary support to those in distress,” he added in the post.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also expressed sadness over the loss of life due to landslides and wished a speedy recovery for those who sustained injuries in the mishap.

“Deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the landslides in Wayanad, Kerala. My heartfelt condolences and prayers are with those who have lost their loved ones, and I hope for the swift recovery of the injured,” CM Yogi said in a post on X.

The landslide has affected Meppadi, Mundakkal town and Chooralmala areas.

The Kerala Chief Minister’s office said that a control room has been established to provide immediate relief and rescue assistance following the landslide at Chooralmala in Wayanad.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has given directions to coordinate the rescue operations in Wayanad promptly following the devastating landslide. he announced that the entire government machinery is actively involved in the efforts, with ministers overseeing and coordinating the operations.
