“We only do politics of development” says BJP’s Sarwan Singh Channy
Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], May 1 (ANI): Sarwan Singh Channy, Punjab’s BJP spokesperson on Wednesday took a jibe at the Congress and said that unlike the opposition party, BJP only does politics of development.
Speaking to ANI, Sarwan Singh Channy slammed former PM Manmohan Singh’s statement that the Muslims have the first right to the wealth of the nation and said, “How can this be possible? Everyone has the right to the country’s capital. We have no religion, and people are our family. We only do politics of development and believe in ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Vikas.'”
The Punjab’s BJP spokesperson also slammed Congress for desiring to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of the country. “They (Congress) want nothing more than to make the prince (Rahul Gandhi) the Prime Minister of the country.”
Talking about the principles of BJP, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Channy said, “There is only one principle… No compromise on terrorism, and naxalism… We abrogated Article 370 in Kashmir and see, there is so much peace there. We had said to abrogate Article 370 and we did it, we said about removing triple talaq and we did it. The work on UCC (Uniform Civil Code) is underway.”
Channy added further, “We do not spare anyone who plays with the sovereignty of the nation and violates the law of peace.”
Channy’s statement comes amid the ongoing Lok Sabha polls being held across the country. In Punjab, voting for its 13 seats will take place in a single phase, with the seventh and final phase on June 1 seeing voting in Gurudaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala constituencies.
This year, the Lok Sabha polls began on April 19 for 102 seats spread across 21 states. Following this, Phase 2 was held on April 26 and the third Phase will be held on May 7, involving 94 seats across 12 states.
