“We stand for prosperity of farmers, youth…”: Rahul Gandhi makes vote appeal to Haryana voters
New Delhi [India], October 5 (ANI): Highlighting key issues of the state, such as farmers, employment, and women’s rights, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi urged the voters of Haryana on Saturday to participate in large numbers and support the Congress party.
“Today there is a very important election in the state – an appeal to all the residents of the state, to come out of their homes in large numbers and vote for Congress,” Rahul Gandhi wrote in a post on X.
He outlined the party’s commitment to key issues affecting the state, stating, “We stand for the prosperity of farmers, employment for youth, safety and respect for women, participation from every class, social security, and the well-being of every family.”
Gandhi highlighted that every vote cast for Congress will help protect the Constitution and serve as a weapon against the perceived atrocities of the BJP.
“We have to form a government of 36 communities in Haryana, a government with everyone’s participation, a government of justice – a Congress government,” he added.
Congress party President Mallikarjun Kharge also made an appeal to the voters to cast their vote for the Congress, remembering the past ten years of rule of the BJP which he remarked, has lead the state towards, ” unemployment, inflation, corruption, paper leaks, poor condition of villages and cities, fraud in identity cards, women’s insecurity, social discrimination and economic inequality”.
“I appeal to all the people of Haryana including the 36 communities to definitely cast their vote. Your one vote will take Haryana on the path of prosperity and social justice,” Kharge wrote in a post on X.
“I urge our youth, especially those who are voting for the first time, to participate in this celebration of democracy,” Kharge’s post on X, reads.
Voting in Haryana is being held from 7 am to 6 pm. A total of 1,031 candidates are contesting in all 90 assembly constituencies, and 20,632 polling booths have been set up for voting. The results for the Haryana Assembly elections will be declared along with those of Jammu and Kashmir on October 8.
The key contesting parties in Haryana include the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as well as the pre-poll alliance between the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP).
The JJP-ASP alliance is contesting all 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana, with the JJP fielding candidates in 70 seats and the ASP in 20.
