Week-long industrial tour of NIT Srinagar students to New Delhi concludes

Srinagar, Jan 18: The weeklong industrial exposure tour of students of Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar to various parts of New Delhi concluded on Wednesday.
The students from 1st and 3rd semesters of MBA were accompanied by faculty members including Dr. Nufazil Altaf Ahangar and Dr. Mohammad Rafiq Teli.
During the tour, students visited JIMS Vasant Kunj New Delhi, Arvind Hi-Tech Pvt Ltd, Arvind Engineers, research facilities, innovation centers, and other places.
The tour was aimed to familiarize the management students with the production and manufacturing processes of industry. During the visit, various experts gave a detailed presentation about the industries.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr) Prof. Sehgal said industrial tours are important for students to get firsthand experience of the market trends in the country.
“This experience goes beyond bookish concepts. Students visited various research facilities and innovation Centers and interacted with various industry experts in New Delhi,” he said.
Prof. Sehgal said such programs will be conducted in the future also and stated that the administration will provide full support to such exposure trips for students and research scholars.
Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said industrial tours are important for students as apart from the knowledge it provides exposure to a new environment, culture, and people.
“Academic tours provide students an environment for socialization and increase bonding among them. It is more practical rather than theoretical knowledge,” he said.
Prof. Bukhari said such tours play a vital role in the overall development of students to gain practical knowledge. It will allow students to remember, learn and understand subjects for their lifetime,” he said.
In his message, HoD HSS&M, Prof. Neyaz Ahmad said academic field tours are important for students to make them aware of their surroundings.
“They were introduced to new ways of learning to gain desired information. Such tours also allow them to learn, absorb and experience things practically, he said.
Prof. Neyaz such practical sessions are the need of the hour and they will explore more in-depth knowledge for the students.
