West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari, BJP MLAs protest inside State Assembly against trainee doctor rape-murder
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 14 (ANI): West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari, along with other BJP MLAs staged a protest inside the State Assembly on Wednesday over the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Suvendu Adhikari said, “CBI should tighten its grasp and take Sandip Ghosh (former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital), Dr SP Das (personal physician of CM) and Vineet Goyal (Kolkata CP) under custody. Why did Sushanta Roy and Dr Abhik go to RG Kar Medical College on 9th August? To destroy evidence? CBI should take steps immediately, otherwise if needed, people of the state will raise their voices. BJP wants the resignation of CM Mamata Banerjee, who handles Health and Home Departments.”
He said that on one side entire of Bengal is in grief including the country and women are under fear and CM is distributing biriyani.
Suvendu Adhikari said, “We want the resignation of the Health Minister and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Today those who have never been in the streets even they are protesting and doctors, nurses health officials have united to raise their voice. Doctors from private hospitals are also not doing OPD today. CM Mamata Banerjee is today shamelessly celebrating Kanyashree Divas and biriyani would be distributed.”
He said that the fight would continue till justice is delivered.
“This fight will continue for a long time. This protest is against the state government. The incident has not taken place inside any home or street but inside the hospital where the entire responsibility of providing security was with the Health Ministry and Police department. And CM is the head of both the department,” he further said.
He added that the BJP would organise protest march at Raj Bhawan, State Secretariat and Health Ministry office.
A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team arrived in Kolkata on Wednesday to take over the investigation of the rape and murder case of a female trainee doctor, as ordered by the Calcutta High Court.
A post-graduate trainee doctor was found dead inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. An investigation has established rape and murder. Reportedly, the body of the deceased bore scratch marks, indicating that there was some struggle at the time of the incident. The family has reportedly alleged that the victim was raped and murdered.
