Spaceman was one of the best sci-fi action movies, undoubtedly. But Gorompeds were surely a matter of interest. What exactly were Gorompeds is still unknown. So, let’s decode this today.

Gorompeds in Spaceman

The Gorompeds are another species of aliens that appear to be like small insects. They seem to still be residing inside of Hanus after they invaded his home planet and destroyed his race, as Hanus explained to Jakub. 

Jakub attempts to apply the Bomba disinfectant chemicals on Hanus, which seems to provide some short-term relief.

Ultimately, Hanus realized well that the Gorompeds would catch up with him sooner or later. Indeed they do so at the very conclusion of Spaceman wherein the Gorompeds engulf him completely and vaporize him as dust in space within the Chopra Cloud. Very little is known about the Gorompeds or why they waited until that exact moment to kill Hanus.

Metaphorically, Hanus’s death revived something in Jakub and how he comprehends the working universe. 

Hanus reiterates throughout Spaceman that everything in the universe is exactly how it is and that is the reason why he accepts his doom without any form of fear and sadness. 

This is just one of the lessons that Hanus ingrains in Jakub, who has again rediscovered clarity about the important things in his life and his infinite love for Lenka. 

Spaceman further suggests that the death of Hanus unleashed new life within Jakub, and this seems to be true when every beginning and end happens simultaneously.

Conclusion

It could mean that Gorompeds was nothing but our own inner thoughts and demons that one day consumed our existence because we refused to face them. 

Additionally, Hanus loved the Nutella because it was nothing but an extension of Jakub’s mind, which shared the same thoughts but from a different perspective. 

Last but not least, Hanus’ code of the universe, “body must not be violated,” had much more meaning in the book than in the film because we never got to see our favorite Shoe Man. 

But in regards to the Spaceman film, maybe those words were spoken for Lenka, who, being a mother, had to carry a child, while Jakub, being a narcissistic husband, shied away from his responsibilities and violated Lenka’s body and mind by not being there when she needed him the most.
