What happened to Special Camps for Kashmiri Migrants, asks GLR. Over six months have elapsed since LG Manoj Sinha inaugurated special governance camp for Kashmiri Migrants at Jagti Colony in February 2023, yet there is no movement forward in this regard alleges former MLC and BJP spokesperson GL Raina.

12-day long camp at 6 locations aimed to ensure 100% saturation of Social security schemes for Kashmiri migrants were held in February with a lot of fanfare and publicity, he recalled. Various departments put up their stalls at the camp including the facilities for enrolment of youth for self-employment, skilling and up-skilling, added GL Raina. Thousands of displaced youth visited these camps and registered themselves under different schemes for self-employment, skilling and up-skilling. There were a large number of other particularly differently-abled individuals who submitted for extension of social security/welfare schemes to them for which they are eligible, Raina stressed.

Former MLC further added that even a substantial number of youth sought benefits of sports promotion schemes, which are not extended to them. It was claimed that the directive was to organize such special governance camps to ensure saturation of social security schemes, self-employment and skilling. However, unfortunately no action seems to have been taken after the conclusion of these camps. Situation even after six months is where it was before these camps were organized, GL Raina asserted.

Girdhari Lal Raina expressed pain and anguish over lack of seriousness in the administration to address issues pertaining to the Displaced Community. Former MLC demanded a detailed response from the concerned authorities on the outcome of these camps held six months earlier and asked administration to be more sensitive and spontaneous in handling the concerns of people.
