Wide gap between Govt’s speech & action is highly condemnable: Rattan Lal
‘Notices being served to petty land holders, shopkeepers despite assurance by HM and LG‘
JAMMU, February 15: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President Jammu, JKNC, has condemned the Govt for the wide gap between its speech and action saying that it is unfortunate that despite assurances by LG and Home Minister notices continue to be served upon petty shopkeepers and poor people for eviction.
He expressed this during a meeting of National Conference (NC) District Jammu Urban held here today under the Chairmanship of Chander Mohan Sharma in which he was the Chief Guest. The meeting was organized to discuss the prevailing political scenario across the Union Territory in general and particularly in Jammu District Urban.
Rattan Lal Gupta in his address during the meeting said that it is quite surprising and unacceptable that despite the assurances given by the Hone Minister Amit Shah and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, the Govt continues to issue and serve notices to shopkeepers and residential house inmates. Not only this the Govt machinery is also going ahead fast installing sign boards of state land even on the small piece of agricultural lands, he regretted.
Expressing anguish over the wide gap between government’s statements and action on ground, it is quite easily visible that those who are poor and holding petty land possession besides some being totally dependent upon the small shops to earn their livelihood, are the main victims of the ongoing eviction drive.
Asserting that the Government is doing gross injustice with them by depriving them of shelter and livelihood, the senior NC leader said that National Conference will not tolerate any such injustice with the people and if the Govt does not stop serving notices to the aforesaid people and withdrawing of all notices served to them NC will stand with such victimized poor people and fight for their justice.
Meanwhile a resolution was also passed during the meeting in which it was asserted that in the prevailing scenario of ongoing anti encroachment drive that has created a sense of fear among the people, the Govt should immediately stop the ongoing drive in the larger interest of the poor people.
In another resolution passed on the occasion, it was alleged that sub-standard material is being used in the works under the Smart City projects, thus urging the Govt to utilize the hard earned money of public properly so that the works don’t get victimized due to inferior materials not of optimum quality.
