“Will sit as Deputy CM, only if public approves”: Manish Sisodia left public to decide his “honesty”
New Delhi [India], September 15 (ANI): After Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, AAP leader and former deputy CM of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, said on Sunday that he will sit on the chair of Deputy Chief Minister-Education Minister only if the public approves his “honesty.”
Saying that he only came to work in the education sector “honestly”, Sisodia further said that he would go to the public court along with Arvind Kejriwal and ask whether the public considers him honest or not.
Praising the Delhi government’s work of the past 10 years, Sisodia said that now the students of government schools of Delhi are studying brilliantly and topping exams like IIT, JEE, and NEET.
Taking it to a microblogging site on X, Manish Sisodia wrote, “I came into politics to work honestly for education. I worked honestly as Delhi’s education minister for 10 years. I built schools. I built new universities. As the Education Minister of Delhi, I worked with the mantra that India cannot become a developed nation without providing the best education in government schools. The result of ten years of hard work is visible that today even in the government schools of Delhi, children are studying brilliantly and topping exams like IIT, JEE, NEET.”
In a veiled attack on the BJP, Sisodia said attempts were made to prove him “dishonest” by putting “false allegations.”
The tweet added, “I worked honestly but attempts were made to prove me dishonest by making false allegations against me under petty politics – I was kept in jail for 17 months on false charges. After two years of legal process, now even the country’s top court has told me to go and do my work. But I will not sit on the chair of Deputy Chief Minister-Education Minister right now. I did not come into politics here for the greed of chairs and posts. I have come to work honestly on education. I have also decided that I will go to the public court along with Arvind Kejriwal ji and ask whether the public considers me honest or not. Elections are to be held in three-four months. Only if the public approves my honesty, I will sit on the chair of Deputy Chief Minister-Education Minister and work for education. Jai Hind.”
In a major move, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that he will resign from the position of Chief Minister after two days and won’t sit on the chair of CM, until the public of Delhi declares him “honest.”
Kejriwal further said that if the public votes for him, it will give him a certificate for his honesty. He also said he would ask for early polls along with the state of Maharashtra.
Addressing the party workers at the AAP office, CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “I am going to resign from the CM position after two days. I will not sit on the CM chair until the people give their verdict. I will go to every house and street and not sit on the CM chair till I get a verdict from the people. I will not sit on the CM post until the public announces its decision. Elections are after a few months. If you think Kejriwal is honest, then vote for me, I will take over as CM after the elections. If you think I am not, don’t vote. Your vote will be a certificate for my honesty, then only I will sit on the post of CM.”
Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday evening, hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam.
