“Will work on issues of farmers, women, youth”: Shiv Sena MLC Bhavana Gawali
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 28 (ANI): After taking oath as a Member of the Legislative Council, Shiv Sena leader Bhavana Gawali on Sunday emphasized that she would work on the issues of farmers, women and youth in the state.
Speaking with ANI, Bhavana Gawali, Shiv Sena MLC said, “There are various subjects to work upon but I will forward the main issues of Maharashtra, whether it is farmers (as I came from Vidarbha), women, or youth. This is an opportunity to work. Earlier, I had also worked as an MP in Lok Sabha, now, I have given an opportunity to work for my state as an MLC and definitely, I will for the people of the state.”
On allegations of opposition for not working in the state, Gawali said, “It is the opposition’s nature to blame us and they are always prepared to abuse but we don’t watch them. Our leader, Eknath Shinde Ji has also said that we don’t need to focus on them, as we will grow through our work. I am sure that our Mahayuti will once again form the government.”
In the MLC elections held on July 12, the Mahayuti Alliance led by BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured nine out of 11 seats, after which Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the ruling alliance did their “best batting” and took the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s “wicket”.
All five candidates fielded by BJP and two each by Shiv Sena and NCP won the election.
Overall, a total of 12 candidates were in the fray in a major contest between the Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi alliances.
