Women College Gandhinagar celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti at Adopted Village; screens documentary on water crisis in India under G 20 awareness

JAMMU, April 13: A group of forty -two students along with the faculty of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women Gandhinagar, Jammu on Thursday celebrated B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti in the Adopted Village Chanduchak, R.S.Pura.

The collaborative initiative of organising a field visit to the village to interact with students of Government High School and Panchayat members was taken by the Department of Political Science, Electoral Literacy Club and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan team of the College.

  To commemorate the birth Anniversary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, a Nukkad Natak was performed by the College students to spread awareness among the masses and school students about their social and political rights.

  Students and teachers of the College also interacted with the school children and informed them about the contribution of Baba Saheb in the uplift of the underprivileged section of the society by framing the Constitution of India to enjoy equal rights.

  To make the visit more fruitful, the students paid visit to Panchayat Ghar of the adopted village and interacted with Sarpanch and other members of Panchayat about the working system at the grassroots level followed by a visit to Abdullian BSF Post, the last border of J&K.

Meanwhile, The Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with G 20 club of P.S.P.S. Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, screened a documentary on “Water crisis in India” under the patronage of worthy Principal, Prof. Minu Mahajan.
