Workshop cum Awareness Programme on Promotion of Saffron Cultivation held at Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, January 02: To make the local cultivators aware about the latest techniques of Saffron farming and its marketing, Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Kishtwar today organised a Workshop cum Awareness Programme here at village Bera Bhata Panchayat Matta B.
The Saffron – a unique spice is cultivated in the area for decades and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare is organising such workshops to acquaint the local cultivators about use of modern tools and techniques, besides its marketing on national and international platforms.
“Kishtwar district is known across the world for producing the best quality Saffron with great demand in the national and international market. To further improve the quality and increase the production of this world’s most expensive species, the department has launched a special promotional campaign,” said Chief Agriculture Office, Amjad Hussain Malik.
Training cum awareness program also focused on promotion of the indoor cultivation of Saffron,” said the CAO.
A large number of progressive saffron growers were present during the special training cum awareness program. They especially hailed the organisers for imparting training for indoor cultivation of saffron.
BDC Chairman Kishtwar Suresh Sharma, District Saffron Development Officer Amarjeet Sen besides, District Agriculture Officer, SDAO Padder & Marwah, SMS DL, other field staff and farmers/PRI’s remained present on the occasion.
