World Leprosy Day: SPARSH campaign launched in Ramban

RAMBAN, JANUARY, 30: Additional District Development Commissioner Ramban, Rajinder Sharma today launched ‘SPARSH’, an Information Education and Communication (IEC) campaign to mark World Leprosy Day.
The fortnight nationwide campaign launched on death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi will continue till February 13.
Earlier, a special awareness camp was also held in the District Hospital and was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kamal Jee Zadoo; Medical Superintend, Vriender Trishal; AD Planning, Farooq Rahi, PMA, Dharm Pal Sharma and other officials of Health Department.
The IEC vehicle will sensitize people regarding diagnosis and treatment of Leprosy under theme “Beat Leprosy”. The ADDC said that campaign would help to eliminate this stigma and prejudice by intensifying awareness about the aspect of leprosy and also identify new cases so as to provide early treatment. He said that the awareness vehicle will visit different parts of the district to make masses aware about the leprosy.
Similar programmes were also held at Block and Hospital level in the district.
