World Red Cross Day observed at Udhampur
UDHAMPUR, May 08: Like other parts of the country, world Red Cross Day was also celebrated here at District Head quarter Udhampur. Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the chief guest. The District Red Cross Society organised a Symposium contest on the theme “Everything we do comes from the heart” in which 10 students drawn from different educational institutions of Zone Udhampur participated and threw light on the given topic.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Sham Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia; ASP, Anwar -Ul-Haq; Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr Ranjeet Kotwal; DSWO, Kanika Gupta; Chief Education Officer, Dy CMO and other officers, besides staff members and students attended the programme.
Highlighting the role and functioning of red cross society in the district, the DC motivated the participants to take part in all activities carried out by it from time to time for the betterment of needy people in the district. He urged the participants to volunteer themselves for the Red Cross which is a best platform to serve the needy people.
Arya of Government Higher Secondary School, Jaganoo clinched first position, while Manvi Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School, Girls Udhampur and Mehak Devi of Government High School Udhampur bagged second and third positions, respectively.
Dr Jia Lal, Mohammad Tufail and Jyoti acted as judges while Neeraj Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Later, the chief guest distributed mementoes and certificates among the participants.
