Wushu Team bring laurels to Jammu University at All India Inter-University Wushu Championship

Jammu, Feb 10- The wushu team of University of Jammu brought laurels by winning 1 Gold 1 silver and 2 bronze while participating in All India Inter-University Wushu Championship organized by Chandigarh University from 7th to 11th Feb 2003. The Gold medal has been won by Hrithik Charak in 85 kg category, Silver medal by Gurmeet Singh in 90 kg whereas 2 bronze medals by  Rohan Sharma in 65 Kg and another bronze by  Pratham in 80 kg category.

Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai while congratulating the team said that it is a hardwork and continual efforts of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu that Sports of JU has established its name not only in Jammu and Kashmir but also has earned its reputation in entire nation. 

The Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu Dr Daud Iqbal Baba briefed that not only in wushu but in other games JU has played well and earned medals for University of Jammu. Recently JU Fencing team has qualified for Khelo India, JU Athletics player qualifies for All India Athletics Championship in Decathlon event, Ju chess team has qualified for the All India Inter-University Chess Championship.

It is due to all-out support and the special focus of the administration that JU Sports is scaling new heights with each passing year and that day is not far away when JU will be among top 5 universities in sports. The team was headed by Sh Jai Bharat who has put his all experience and efforts to achieve these medals he has also accompanied the team and the team was trained under the guidance of Dronacharya awardee
