Y20 (Yuvamanthan Model) G20 Summit 2023 Successfully Organized in Central University of Jammu

JAMMU, 15 Sept 2023: Central University of Jammu organized the ‘Yuvamanthan Model G20’. This remarkable initiative was held under the visionary leadership of Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor  and Dr. Ritu Bakhshi, Dean Students Welfare.

The Y20 summit model, aimed at channeling the energy and potential of young minds, saw participation from a large number of enthusiastic students. Dr. Amita Gupta, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Comparative Religion and Civilization (CCRC), coordinated the event. The summit witnessed the participation of over 72 students acting as leaders of G20 nations.

India’s assumption of the G20 presidency from December 2022 is a defining moment in its history, aiming to foster pragmatic global solutions and embody the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (One Earth – One Family – One Future), the theme of G20. Acknowledging the crucial role of India’s youth in an interconnected world, Yuvamanthan Model G20 (YMG20) provides a platform for their inclusion, amplifying their voices on socio-political issues.

Key outcomes of the discussion included consensus on Peace building and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War. The participants also emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing among G20 nations.

Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor on the occasion emphasized the University’s commitment to fostering practical discussions and nurturing essential skills in youth. Yuvamanthan Model G20 provides a significant learning opportunity for students to develop skills like public speaking, strategy building, team building and multilateral negotiations, among others and contribute to a better world. He congratulated Dr. Ritu Bakhshi and her team for this innovative approach to provide the students a real-world experience of international relations and diplomacy.

Addressing the students, the special guests of honour on the occasion were Prof. B. S. Bhau, Prof Deepak Pathania, Prof Vandana Sharma, Prof Jaya Bhaseen, highlighting the opportunity for innovative ideas to shape a sustainable and inclusive world. He remarked, “In today’s age, the youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow but are influencing change today. Through platforms like the ‘Yuvamanthan Model G20’, innovative ideas can transform into solutions, leading us to a more sustainable and inclusive world. Every thought, every discussion here is a step forward towards that dream.”

In the conclusion of the summit, teams and individuals were recognized for their outstanding performance. For the Best Team category, the first prize was bagged by India, represented by the dynamic duo of Sooraj Bhan and Dipeesh Kumar. Brazil followed closely in second place with representatives Rupali Singh and Sachin Kumar. The third prize went to Australia’s Sachiv Gupta and Stuti Sharma, while the consolation prize was awarded to Indonesia, represented by Ankit Mishra and Rajni Sharma.

 For the Best Head of State category, the first prize went to Indonesia’s representative, Ankit Mishra. The second prize was clinched by Japan with Abhigya Langeh as their representative, while the third prize was awarded to the European Union, represented by Nahila Tabassum. The United States, represented by Harsh Pratap Singh Hada, took home the consolation prize.

In the Best Finance Minister category, India’s Dipeesh Kumar took the top prize. The second prize was claimed by Russia’s Aditya Singh, and the third prize went to Australia, represented by Stuti Sharma. The consolation prize in this category went to the United States, represented by Vipin Tiwari.

Lastly, the prestigious Best Leader prize was awarded to Sooraj Bhan Sharma for his exceptional leadership qualities.

Dr. Vinay Kumar (ADSW) took the opportunity to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the organising team members. “The success of this summit is a testament to the team’s hard work, dedication, and collective effort. I express my deep gratitude to each one of them,” he remarked.

This ‘Yuvamanthan Model G20’ has undoubtedly set a benchmark in blending academics with practical exposure, helping students to understand the intricacies of global politics and decision-making.
