Zonal Level Inter-School Competitions Kick Off at GHSS Bhella

DODA, MAY 22, : As per the annual calendar of activities approved by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K for the year 2024-25, and under the direction of District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Doda, Sunil Kumar, the zonal level inter-school competition for under-14 boys commenced at GHSS Bhella, today. The event is being held under the overall supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Thathri, Madan Lal Thakur.


The competition was officially inaugurated by the chief guest, Ashwani Kumar, the school Vice Principal, in the presence of the guest of honor, Retired Physical Education Teacher Pardeep Singh Parihar.


Organized by the Youth Services and Sports Department of Zone Thathri, the sports event will feature Cricket, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Chess, Carrom, Wrestling, Taekwondo and Tug of War competitions.


In his opening speech, the chief guest highlighted the significant role sports and games play in maintaining physical fitness and enhancing immunity. He emphasized that participating in outdoor games fosters healthy habits and promotes physical and mental growth. Furthermore, sports help students control their emotions and channel negative feelings positively. He also advised the participants to maintain discipline and team spirit throughout the competitions.


Approximately 308 students from 30 schools in Zone Thathri are participating in the tournament. Today’s matches were officiated by technical experts and officers from the sports department of Zone Thathri, ensuring a fair and well-organized event.
